Anymaker wins Wistrand Startup Star 2018

For the 7th year in a row, Wistrand yesterday crowned the next star on the Swedish startup-scene. This year’s winner was Anymaker, that provides 3D modelling tools encouraging kids to become more creative on their tablets and mobiles.
The jury commented: ”A startup consisting of a strong and passionate team that through innovative and popular products and commercially sound business plan, have added another dimension to their industry with the ability to continue to successfully develop all things 3D within the field of EdTech and beyond.”
Anymaker’s two 3D modelling apps – Makerspace and Flying Colors 3D – are designed to encourage kids to spend a greater proportion of their mobile time on being creative, while developing their analytical and spatial abilities. The target group is both private individuals and schools. It is also possible to connect the apps to a 3D printer and print their three-dimensional creations in environmental plastic.
First Runner-Up was Bioserva, which develops new, better storage solutions for medical biobanks, and Second Runner-Up was Phoenix Biopower, which develops new technologies for the efficient recovery of energy from biomass.
Wistrand arranges the business idea competition Wistrand Startup Start together with SEB, Connect Sweden, Andréasson PR, The Park and Silicon Vikings. This year’s jury panel was composed of Johan Siwers, Silicon Vikings, Therese Folkesson, Connect Sverige, Jenny Lindblad, ELIZA communication, Joacim Scott, SEB, Jonas Hombert, Opti, and Ólafur Steindórsson, Wistrand.
As the Winner, Anymaker will receive a SEK 50 000 prize check, legal support (worth SEK 60 000), a 6-month co-working membership with The Park that includes a desk space at the “Bouncing Berlin”-style Hälsingegatan office (worth SEK 35 000), PR and communication services (worth SEK 20 000), as well as a Springboard program with Connect that focuses on getting your startup ready for investment.
