Wistrand administrator of two of Sweden's largest bankruptcies in 2018

Earlier this year, credit-checking provider Creditsafe presented its summary of the Swedish bankruptcy year of 2018. In total, 6,178 Swedish limited liability companies went bankrupt during the previous year, as compared to 5,574 limited company bankruptcies in 2017. After an initially stable year, the number of Swedish bankruptcies rose for seven consecutive months starting in June.

Wistrand partners Fredrik Thor and Niklas Körling, respectively, were appointed bankruptcy administrators for two of the five largest Swedish bankruptcies in 2018. In August, the manufacturing company Segerström & Svensson applied for bankruptcy with Fredrik Thor being appointed bankruptcy administrator. The bankruptcy in Segerström & Svensson was the fourth largest bankruptcy of the year in terms of turnover (approximately SEK 467 million) and the second largest based on number of employees (283).

During the last month of the year, 419 limited companies were recorded for bankruptcy, the largest bankruptcy being the steel manufacturing company Scana Steel Björneborg AB for which Niklas Körling was appointed bankruptcy administrator. The bankruptcy of Scana Steel Björneborg AB was the year’s fifth largest bankruptcy in terms of turnover (approximately SEK 424 million) and the fourth largest based on number of employees (194).
