Wistrand advises Stena Line on its Baltic sea expansion

Wistrand has advised Stena Line Scandinavia AB on the acquisition of five ferry routes between Sweden, Germany and Latvia.
The five ferry routes, Sassnitz-Trelleborg, Rostock-Trelleborg, Nynäshamn-Ventspils, Travemünde-Ventspils and Travemünde-Liepaja, have been acquired from the German shipping company Scandlines. Moreover, Stena Line’s acquisition includes ownership, charter and lease rights to five vessels, operations at seven ports, transfer of employees engaged ashore and at sea as well as the transfer of contractual agreements.
Wistrand, represented by a team led by Mattias Boqvist (corporate, partner) with support from Lave Beck-Friis (shipping, partner), Tobias Bengtsson (antitrust, merger control, senior associate), Johannes Wårdman (corporate, associate), Tove Rosén Johansson (corporate, associate) and Karin Andreasson (antitrust, merger control, associate), acted as Stena Line’s lead counsel on the acquisition.
The team also included lawyers from Norton Rose Germany and Brussels, the Lithuanian and Latvian law firm Sorainen and the Danish law firm Plesner.
The transaction was completed on 11 October 2012.
